Iguazú Falls

Passed my test with flying colours - 99 percent. Not quite sure how though. Scores in my class ranged from 82 to 99 (I was not the only one to get 99 though). Had a final picture with my class and teacher Melina (back middle) to celebrate my emotional graduation.
The bus journey to Puerto Igauzú was great - luxurious seating with plenty of space, air hostess style meal service and some reasonable films to keep occupied with. The 18 hours flew by. The hostel I was staying at turned out to have a pool so my first activity on arrival was to don my trunks and relax. This ended up being the only activity for the remainder of the afternoon until a bbq at the hostel in the evening. My first South America hostel experience! And pleasantly surprised I was. I had a good chat with an Austrian guy who had spent a lot of time trekking so got some good advice for my plans later on. He was a bearded fella who looked like he had been travelling for years. I would have guessed him to be about 35 to 40 but he was younger than me at a mere 27. Definitely put me off my beard growing plans.....
I spent the whole day at the Argentinian side of the falls yesterday with a couple of others from the hostel. No sun unfortunately but by about midday it was so hot anyway that we didn´t really care. Only the photos suffered. It was an impressive sight particularly on first arrival.
There are three short purpose built tracks that you can walk along, an upper and lower one in the same area with the upper taking you over the top and near the edge of the falls, and the lower getting closer to the individual falls. All gave great views. The third was a short train ride away and was the most impressive taking you to the top edge of the largest falls. The highlight was a boat ride under the falls, a great way to see them up close and even better for a refreshing power shower to cool off after a very hot and humid day. A queue of boats wait to give their occupants a chance for photos before heading in to get soaked. It didn´t quite go underneath but got within meters of the bottom of one the heavier falls. Highly recommended!
A boat is just visible in the spray.
Today I had planned to visit the other (Brazilian) side but after reports from others and listening to comparisons between the two I decided instead on a few hours of catching up with my emails/blog and relaxing before my bus back to Buenos Aires at 1630.

Great photographs Steven.
What would Lucy say about an old man's beard? Not you at all I'd say.
